Taking advantage of high academic performance of HKUST as well as of R&D team composed of talents from home and abroad, ZAMI has gradually developed its research method which takes production, learning and research as a whole and pursues mutual development and progress among them. Located in one of the major manufacturing bases, ZAMI, drawing upon local industrial advantage of Zhejiang, will focus on research and development that can dramatically improve existing manufacturing performance to maximize industry efficiency as well as its value, the achievement of which can better serve the local enterprises in Zhejang and regions in other provinces as well.

        At present, our major research covers four facets: Mass Customization, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Technology), Network Based Manufacturing and Design for Comfort, which stand for the new trend in the development of global manufacturing industry. With R&D advantage in four facets, ZAMI will play an inestimable role in promoting the performance of manufacturing industry as a whole. ZAMI has established a close relationship with many institutes (including HKUST) at home and abroad, enterprises and institutions as well, which makes it possible that multi-level, multi-angle analysis of and research in four facets can be conducted from development in R&D to technological application and that related solution schemes will be completed thereafter, thus enabling China's manufacturing industry to take the lead in the world.
